My family and I read the book of Hosea a short time ago. When we got to chapter 4 and read the first three verses I thought to myself, ” Wow, these verses are like a mirror reflection of the United States right now.“Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel,
for the LORD has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land.
There is no faithfulness or steadfast love,
and no knowledge of God in the land;
there is swearing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery;
they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.
Therefore the land mourns,
and all who dwell in it languish,
and also the beasts of the field
and the birds of the heavens,
and even the fish of the sea are taken away.
(Hosea 4:1-3 ESV) (emphasis added)
Is this not the U.S.?
- divorce (no faithfulness or steadfast love)
- false doctrine around every corner (no knowledge of [the] God [of the Bible])
- sex outside of marriage/adultery
- abortion (bloodshed)
Many people live like there are no laws, standards or morals set in place for how one should live. They live their lives how they wish or desire. Sinning like there is no tomorrow. This is lawlessness.
Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.(1 John 3:4)
However, there is no need for you or I to be surprised at the moral decline of this country, or the world for that matter. Before Christ returns it’s gonna get bad. I mean really bad.Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,…Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. (2 Thessalonians 2:1,3-4 ESV) (emphasis added)
This is why we Christians must stayed prayed up. We must cover ourselves with the armor of God and prepare for the spiritual war that is going on.“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” (Ephesians 6:10-13 ESV) (emphasis added)
Satan will attack God’s people, and we have to put our trust in the Lord that He will guide and protect us through this battle.It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
(Deuteronomy 31:8 ESV) (emphasis added)
Be encouraged and stand firm on the Word of God.
